History

Codsall and Wergs Garden Centre has gone through many changes and many families. From the 1950s to the present day.

In the 1950s, the site was known as Codsall Wood Nurseries, a small family-run business owned by G.R.Williams that sold a variety of plants and shrubs to the local community. In the 1970s, the business expanded, and a garden centre was built on the site. The new centre offered a much wider range of products, including garden furniture, ornaments, and pet supplies.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Codsall and Wergs Garden Centre continued to grow under the ownership of Mr Ken Etheridge and family, becoming a popular destination for gardeners and non-gardeners alike. The centre's reputation was built on the quality of its products, the knowledge of its staff, and its excellent customer service. In the early 2000s, the garden centre underwent a major renovation and expansion, with the addition of a large glasshouse and a new restaurant. The centre also expanded its range of products and services, with the introduction of a pet grooming service and a gift shop.

In 2014, Codsall and Wergs Garden Centre was purchased by the current owners the Hommers Family and its commitment to quality and customer service remains as strong as ever. The centre continues to be a beloved destination for locals and visitors alike.

The Hommers Family have been in the industry for four generations, Hendrick Sabo Hommers started the business after World War 2 on wolverhampton market selling bulbs and cut flowers. He was joined by his two soons who helped progress the company into wholssale supplies H.S.Hommers & Sons our sister company that still trades to the this day.
In the late 70's Sjoerd and Henk Hommers started Garden Land on the Bridgnorth Road. Finally the family Purchased Codsall and Wergs Garden Centre in 2014.
