How to pot and re-pot?

Repot any time of the year; spring is an ideal time during the growing season.

1. The first step is to find a new pot, choose one with just enough room for the roots and fill one third of pot with potting mix.
2. Remove dead and shrivelled roots but leave potting mix attached to healthy plump white roots.
3. Place the orchid in the pot and carefully spread out the roots. Gently hold the plant by its stem and fill around the roots. Tap the pot to settle the potting mix – do not firm down.
4. Top tips – Orchids may need anchoring in the pot with a stick or with wire. Re-pot just after flowering or during the period when new growth and new roots appear.

Orchid roots will rot easily if they are kept in wet conditions. It is therefore essential to water sparingly, ideally once a week. Westland Orchid Water is a great option to feed and water orchid plants. Just 2 capfuls a week will help keep orchid plants healthy and flowering for longer
